FAQ

Some of my plants like lettuce are not listed as a plant for the Veggie Mat. Why?
Some vegetables do much better planted in soil. VeggieMat recommends you plant vegetables like lettuce, onions and beets in soil right next to your VeggieMat. Providing an individual hole to plant such plants wastes space and some plants like melons require too much room. Most of your garden will be a weed free VeggieMat.

Can I plant a vegetable not listed in the VeggieMat Garden Tool?
Yes. Look at the spacing requirement for the vegetable that you want to plant. If the row spacing need is less than 20 inches, use the Generic Small size. If it is between 20 and 30 inches, used the Generic Medium size otherwise use the Generic Large size.

Will weeds grow around my plants?
Yes, but we highly recommend that you put mulch around your plants after you plant your vegetable.

How do I prepare my soil for a Veggie Mat?
The same as you would if you were planting a garden without Veggie Mat.

Can I order a different size VeggieMat?
Yes. Call us and we will customize your VeggieMat to your garden size needs.

How does your guarantee work?
Use your VeggieMat for your first growing season and if you are not absolutely thrilled with it, return it to us before the end of the year along with your receipt and we will refund your money, no questions asked.

How long will a VeggieMat last?
The VeggieMat is made from UV protected, Polypropylene Ground Cover. There are many variables that impact its life, but generally the covering will last five years. VeggieMat cauterizes all edges to reduce or eliminate fraying.

What if my plant is not listed?
Go to http://www.tinkersgardens.com/vegetables/ and look up your vegetable spacing requirement. If it is greater than 30 inches, use the Large Footprint. If it is 20-30 inches use the Medium Footprint and use the small Footprint for all other Veggies. Remember, some veggies are better in soil. How do I extend the life of my VeggieMat?
Keep it clean. Ideally, if you have a blower get all the dirt off the Mat. If not hose it off or sweep it off. Dirt could attract weeds and reduce the life of your VeggieMat.

What do I do at the end of the growing season?

Roll up your VeggieMat and put it in your garage or somewhere where it is protected from the element. While we cannot guarantee it, taking care of your VeggieMat could give you 5-10 years of usage.
